Obituary

Mary T. “Marie” (Lally) Fargo, a woman of great strength and faith, passed away on Sunday October 26, 2025, at South Shore Hospital surrounded by her family. Wife of the late John D. “Jack” Fargo, Marie was born in Boston, MA on November 20, 1937, and graduated from Our Lady of the Presentation High School in Brighton, MA. She and Jack were long time residents of Brockton, MA where they raised their family. She is predeceased by her parents, Patrick B. and Mary C. (Moore) Lally of Boston and Cape Cod, and her brothers, Thomas and Gerald. She leaves behind her sister, Patricia (Lally) Murray of Simsbury, CT. Her children Lawrence P. (Larry) Fargo and his late wife Donna (Reed) of Brockton, Linda Fargo and her wife Nora Hughes of Brockton, Teresa Cabral and her husband Jeffery of Bluffton, SC, John D. (Jack) Fargo and his wife Lorna (Scioscia) of Weymouth, Brenda Eckstrom and her husband Ken of Buzzards Bay, and Judy Fargo and her husband Charlie Bumpus of Brockton. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren: Lawrence, Amy, Steven, Nicole, Elijah, Jeffery, Daniel, Emily, Abigail, Mariah, Sarah, Victoria, Kennedy, Charlie II, and Amanda, also 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, along with many others she mothered over the years.

Marie was active for many years at Christ the King Parish, formerly St. Colman’s in Brockton, MA. She was the first president of St. Colman’s School Guild in the early 1960s. She later coordinated the 1st communion program and taught religious education for many, many years. She was instrumental in starting the Christmas Giving Tree Program which is a long running parish tradition and now done at many others as well.

Marie was a paraprofessional in the Brockton Public School for over 40 years. Most of that time was assigned to Sacred Heart School chapter 1 reading program. There she met the Sisters of the Assumption and she and Jack became associate members of the order, which they loved. She was involved with the Cursillo Movement retreat program at the Holy Cross Fathers Retreat House and volunteered at My Brother’s Keeper in Easton.

Marie loved her faith, her family, and her many friends. She loved big family holidays, particularly Christmas, and she loved making people laugh. Her strength and guidance will be missed and memories of her will be cherished.

Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton, Monday November 3rd from 4-7 pm.

Services in the Funeral Home, Tuesday November 4th at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton at 10:45 am. Burial to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne.
