Gary Batchelder, Sr., 86, a longtime resident of Sandown, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Concord, NH, Gary was a proud patriot who served his country in the U.S. Air Force after marrying his beloved wife Dotty. After his service, he settled in Sandown with his wife where they raised their family and lived for most of their lives.
Gary had a long and distinguished career as a Senior Software Engineer for Raytheon in Andover, MA, where he worked until his retirement.
Gary was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was active in his community as a member of the Sandown Civic Association. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures: a game of bowling, horseshoes, playing cards, a round of golf and spending a day at the track. Above all, his favorite moments were those spent surrounded by his family.
Gary will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Dotty Batchelder of Derry, NH, and his three children, Gary Batchelder Jr. and his wife Joan, Debbie Gulezian and her husband Ted, and Christy Hubley and her husband Rick. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Teddy Gulezian, Jessica Holmes and her husband Robert, Lauren Batchelder, Erin Batchelder, Natasha Hubley, and Lexi Hubley. He is also survived by his sister, Gail Bresnahan and her husband Bob. He was predeceased by his brother, Dick Batchelder.
Calling hours will be held on Friday October 31, 2025 from 3 – 6pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A funeral service celebrating Gary's life will be held at The Rock (St. Matthew’s) Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Sandown on Saturday at 10:00am. Burial with military honors will follow at the Center Cemetery, Sandown.
