LEDYARD: Scott Elisha Pierce, a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at the age of 68. A true free spirit, Scott lived life on his own terms, embracing the outdoors with joy, grit, and an open heart.
Scott’s life was one of adventure, creativity, and compassion. He was an avid skier and seasoned outdoorsman who found his calling in the snow-covered landscapes of winter. For many years, Scott led snowmobile tours and backcountry excursions, guiding others through the wilderness of Colorado.
Scott had a natural talent with his hands. Whether building a piece of furniture from scratch or lovingly restoring a weathered antique, he poured care and craftsmanship into everything he touched.
He had a deep and abiding love for animals. Over the years, he opened his heart to countless strays, always making room for those in need. His faithful cat, Dash, was his constant companion and held a special place in his life.
Scott will be remembered for his independence, his quiet strength, and his generosity of spirit. He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth (Keeney) Pierce and Wallace Pierce; his brother Keith Pierce; and his sister, Beverly (Pierce) D’Arrigo. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Kenneth D’Arrigo; his nieces, Kara, Jill, and Kendall; his nephew, Harry; and his former wife, Martha Byrum. He also leaves behind many friends and neighbors in Ledyard and Breckinridge, CO who will miss his presence, his stories, and his unwavering kindness.
A private remembrance will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter or wildlife conservation organization in Scott’s name
