It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved James C. Barnes, who departed this life peacefully on October 6th surrounded by family and love. He was the loving husband of the late Anita (Abueg) Barnes.
James leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and dedication. He is survived by his son James Barnes Jr., two daughters, Jamie Barnes and Tressa Barnes, his brother Alvin Sharp and wife Janice, three sisters, Debbra Garrett, Vernetter Riley and husband Robert, and Eunice Tenort, (brother of the late Ruby Butler), five grandchildren, Taliyah, Emani, Zaquan, Malachi, and Demetrius, one great granddaughter Zaylise, all of whom were blessed by his wisdom, humor, and unconditional support.
A proud veteran, James honorably served his country and endured the unimaginable as a Prisoner of War. Through it all, he carried himself with courage and grace, teaching those around him what true resilience and faith look like. He was the definition of a provider and a steady shoulder to lean on. He faced life’s challenges with quiet strength, never allowing responsibility or hardship to overwhelm him. His family and countless friends respected and admired him deeply—for his loyalty, his integrity, and his heart that knew no limits. He will be remembered not only for his service and sacrifice but also for the warmth he brought to every room and the love he gave so freely. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the lives he touched.
James will be deeply loved and missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts.
Services will be held in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton, Tuesday October 14th at 9 am. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne at 1:30 pm.
