Monaghan, Shaun Francis, age 60, life long resident of Roslindale where Shaun was a proud to say “Rossie Rules!”, August 30, 2025.
Beloved brother of Michael F. Monaghan (Ret. U.S. Army) and his wife Christine of Alabama, James J. Monaghan (Ret. Army National Guard) and his wife Viola of Hyde Park, Noreen P. Monaghan of Medfield, Patrick J. Monaghan Jr. of Roslindale, Kevin D. Monaghan and his wife Joanne of West Roxbury, and Brendan G. Monaghan and his wife Paula of Dedham. Devoted son of the late Patrick J. And Mary Theresa “Tessie” (O’Riordan) Monaghan. Loving uncle of Meagan C. Foster, Melanie N. Monaghan Jones, James J. Monaghan Jr., Erin E. Monaghan, Rebecca A. Monaghan, Daniel K. Monaghan, Kayla M. Monaghan, Taylor A. Monaghan and Tyler D. Monaghan. Grand-uncle of Morgan M. Monaghan. Nephew of Bernadette Connaughton, Christy O’Sullivan and Patrick Conneely, the late Noreen Vall, Bridie O'Sullivan, Winifred Conneely, Kathleen Gorham, Ann Monaghan and Margaret Cooke, James Monaghan, Murty Monaghan, and Michael Monaghan. Shaun is also survived by many loving cousins in County Galway and County Kerry and in the Boston area.
Shaun was a proud graduate of Charlestown High School Class of 1982 where he learned his electrical engineering trade. Shaun loved and enjoyed his work and co-workers designing and engineering electrical lighting and power systems from his time working at several companies including Lottero Mason, TMP, BR+A and SMMA.
He enjoyed auto shows and was a long time member of Oldsmobile Club of America - Eastern Massachusetts GMO Chapter where he served as Secretary, Club Photographer, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster. Shaun dedicated his car license plates to his parents which read “TESS35” and “PaddyJoe”. Shaun was also a member of Boston Emerald Society.
Shaun also enjoyed traveling with his family all over New England, Washington D.C., Graceland, Talladega Speedway Nascar Race, New York to USS The Sullivans in Staten Island as well as visiting family in Germany and southern United States.
Shaun enjoyed his time on his boats “Bouncer” and Kerry Ferry”. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He took particular interest in his Irish heritage with music, history, family tree, culture and enjoying a pint of Guinness or shot of Jameson and Bushmills.
Shaun enjoyed karaoke especially singing Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way”. He enjoyed playing with and sharing all of his gadgets and top of the line stereo systems as he was the master DJ in the Monaghan family.
His family will miss Shaun who remember him fondly by the nicknames given to him, “Shauno”, “Bouncer”, “Animal” and “Shaun the Don”.
Shaun always loved calling Roslindale home and defined it as a place or feeling of belonging or a gathering place where you will always be surrounded with love.
Visitation at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Wednesday, September 3, from 4-8PM. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, September 4, at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Chrysostom Church, West Roxbury at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
