Homer Arvin Paulson, of Ventura, CA, entered Jesus’ arms on July 3rd, at home and in the loving embrace of his wife.
Homer was born on July 28, 1933, in Dennison, Iowa, to Arvin and Irene Paulson. He was the younger of two children.
After high school, Homer joined the Navy, which brought him to Point Mugu, CA, where he met Beverly Southward. They were married in 1953 and raised three children together. Following his service in the Navy, Homer joined the Air Force and served another twelve years. During that time, the family moved frequently, including a particularly joyful three-year stay in Bermuda.
After retiring from the military, the family settled in Ventura. Homer and Beverly were married for fifty-three years until her passing in October 2006.
Eight years later, Homer met Linda Messineo in their church's bereavement group. Linda had recently lost her husband of almost twelve years. What began as a friendship blossomed into love, bringing renewed light into both of their lives. Homer and Linda were married for nine years and cherished their time together.
Homer was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly; his sister Joyce; and his youngest son, Richard.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children Barbara (Monty) Lang and John (Maria) Paulson; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren: Wade Smith, Lori Kraige, Tina (Frank) Molina, and Tony (Gennie) Messineo, as well as nine additional grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to Homer’s memorial service, which will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 AM at Ventura Jubilee Fellowship, 1956 Palma Dr., Ventura, CA.
Arrangements are under the direction of BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura, CA.
