Melvin T. Turner

Melvin T. “Mel” Turner, 89, of Anderson, passed away May 31, 2025 at The Waters of Chesterfield. He was born on February 5, 1936 in Brazil, IN, the son of Melvin E. and Mae (Underwood) Turner.
Melvin was employed as a project engineer with General Motors Guide Lamp. He had attended Southern Heights Christian Church.
He was active in Boy Scouting, serving as Scoutmaster of troop 322 for many years. He enjoyed model railroading and traveling to Indian re-enactment powwows, where he took his own teepee.
He is survived by his four children; Curt Turner, Ronda Wilson, Fonda (Jim ) Mullins, Sally (Elwyn) Downes; three grandchildren, Joshua (Mary) Mullins, Jordan Mullins, Morgan Downes; great grandchildren, Callie, Harrison, and Quinn Mullins; sisters, Anna Reed and Loraine (Bob) Decker,
Melvin was preceded in death on January 10 2022 by his wife Jeannine Turner, whom he married on July 21, 1956.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 2 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s or Wounded Warriors.
