Obituary

Carol Ruth Thompson, a beloved sister, friend, and colleague, passed away on May 2, 2025, after a battle with lung cancer. She was known for her generous spirit, contagious laugh, and deep connections to her community, family, and friends.

Carol was predeceased by her loving parents, Clifton and Ruth Thompson. She is survived by her devoted sister, Suzanne Thompson, and her childhood friends the Melanson family, who fondly referred to her as the “8th Melanson.” She also leaves behind a wide circle of cherished friends from the Jamaica Plain and Brighton communities, as well as many dear colleagues from her professional life.

Carol dedicated over 30 years of service to the Finance Department at Boston IVF in Waltham, where she was respected not only for her work ethic and dedication but also for the warmth and kindness she brought to the workplace.

A woman of many interests, Carol found joy in music and traveling, as well as her weekly backgammon games with her friend Brenda Wynne. She was also an avid photographer, with a keen eye for capturing the beauty and meaning in life’s everyday moments.

Carol faced her illness with tremendous courage and dignity, inspiring those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering grace.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
