CATHERINE REEGAN BROWN (1936-2024)

Catherine Reegan Brown of Brunswick ME, beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Lawrence E. Brown (USAF), passed into eternity on Feb. 23, 2024, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center in Brunswick ME. She was surrounded by her children.
Born and raised in Medford MA, Catherine was the daughter of the late William V. and Catherine M. Fleming Reegan. She graduated from Saint Clement High School and went on to attend Mount Saint Mary College, where she earned a degree in Chemistry.
Catherine’s early years as a mother and Navy wife took her from her first husband’s posting in O’ahu HI to a farm in Lancaster NH. Later, she earned a master’s degree in Education from Plymouth State College. Catherine worked for several years in public education, first as a mathematics teacher in Whitefield NH, and then as a school principal in Washington VT and the Groton-Dunstable School District in MA. She went on to pursue graduate work in Computer Science at the University of Lowell. Eventually she transitioned into computer programming and technical writing. Her employers included Booz Allen Hamilton and MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
Catherine and Lawrence were married for more than three decades. Following her retirement in 1993, the couple traveled to many Elderhostel destinations in the United States and toured several European countries, often accompanied by Lawrence’s sister Olive. Catherine and Lawrence were especially enthused to serve as in-park volunteers at both Capitol Reef and Arches National Parks in Utah.
In 2002 Lawrence and Catherine moved from Chelmsford MA to the Thornton Oaks Retirement Community in Brunswick ME. She was active in the community, especially as a volunteer with the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust.
Catherine was pre-deceased by her husband Lawrence, her brother William H Reegan, and her grandson Nicholas J Seminatore. She is survived by her sister Eileen M. Reegan of Woburn MA, her stepdaughter Kathleen D. Brown of Chicopee MA, and children from her first marriage: Gerald W. Seminatore of Seattle WA, Linda J. Seminatore of Nashua NH, and Catherine C. Seminatore of Brunswick.
Catherine leaves a legacy of loving care, kindness, courage, and resilience. Interment was private in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford MA.
