Barbara A. (MacNeil) Ferranti, of Medford, formerly of East Otis, passed away Monday, May, 8th. She was 79. Born in Cambridge, she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Geraldine (St. George) MacNeil.

Barbara loved all types of animals. The neighborhood raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, birds and occasional black bear were trained to know where to eat which made them quite plump. Barbara had a long prosperous career for 49 years at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston, where she established many friendships.

Barbara was the devoted mother of Wayne Ferranti of Medford. She was the dear sister of Charles MacNeil of Andover, and Donna Wentworth and her late husband Chick. She was the loving aunt of DawnMarie, Jennifer and Joseph. She was the dear longtime friend of Raymond Smith of Medford, and the proud owner of Shadow. She is also survived by many loved ones and friends.

In accordance with Barbara’s wish there will be no funeral services. In Barbara’s memory please send donations to a local animal shelter or a veteran charity of One’s choice.
