Rita C. (McMahon) Lyman, age 79 of Brockton, died April 7, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Alton “Al” C. Lyman for 53 years. Rita was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Frederick and Rita (Cruise) McMahon and lived in the city for most of her life.
A 1962 graduate of Brockton High School, Rita worked as a paraprofessional at the Angelo School for 10 years. In her free time, Rita enjoyed playing Mahjong, scratch tickets and watching baseball. Most importantly, she enjoyed time spent with her family.
Rita will be remembered as a quiet and private woman who was always there to help someone in need. For many years she was the caretaker of her mother. She left a void in everyone’s hearts when she died.
Rita was the mother of Paul C. Lyman and his wife Susan in Dedham and Jamie-Rita Solari and her husband Michael of Brockton. She leaves four grandchildren Rhianna Lyman, Patrick Lyman, Ella Rita Solari and Jackson Solari. Rita was the sister of Patricia McMahon-Currie and her fiancé Ron Poliseno of Brockton, and the late John, Mary Baker, Paul, Frederick, James, Peter, Joseph McMahon and Ann O’Brien as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister-in-law of Judy McMahon of E. Bridgewater, Cathy McMahon of West Bridgewater, Joanne McMahon of Winter Park, Florida and Ken Lyman and his wife Janice of Yarmouthport.
A Celebration of Rita’s life will be held at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday May 6, 2023 from 11am-1pm followed by a prayer service at 1pm.
