Stanley J. Trykowski, age 99, of Canton passed away April 3rd. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Cecelia B. “CeCe” (Cieszynski). Father of Gail Rose Trykowski, and her Life Partner Gene Robbins both of Canton. Uncle of Linda Marconi of Greenwich, CT. the late Sandra D’Vileskis, and Francis “Butchy”Cinaski . Grand Uncle of John Marconi and his son Ryan of Clarkston MI., Jason Marconi his wife Katie and their son ”Jackson JAM” of Snoqualmie Pass Wa. Grand Uncle to Kelly D’Vileskis-Feda of Greenwich CT.
Born and raised in New Britain, CT, he graduated from New Britain High School. Right after his 18th Birthday, he enlisted into the Navy in March of 1942 with his two older brothers Andrew and Joseph. Stanley was a proud WWII Veteran of the United States Navy, he was a navigator aboard the Lockheed Ventura air plane. He was assigned to the South Pacific ( Lucian Islands) where he and his crew fought proudly and bravely for their country, even after being shot down twice. After the war he was assigned to the Naval Air Station in Alameda, California and served as part of the test crew for the Lockheed Ventura II. During test flights he and his crew survived 3 crashes. Honorably discharged December 24,1945. On a GI bill in Chemistry he went on to Trinity College where he earned an undergraduate degree as a Science/Bio-Chem Major, then on to a Masters degree in Engineering from University of Connecticut, and an additional Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University in New York. After completing college Stanley first joined Wm. Brand Co. In 1951, now know as General Cable in Willimantic, Connecticut, as a Research Chemist. In 1960, he and his family moved to Canton where he was recruted by Blane Chemical (located where FM Generator now resides in Canton) Accepting Vice President and Technical Director of Compounding. In 1964, he left Blane joining the the Great American Chemical Company in Fitchburg Massachusetts, as Vice President R&D for wire and cable products. Stanley founded and co- owned Lynn Plastics Corporation on Brookline St. Lynn, Ma. with his two partners Sydney and Saul Goldstein where he was President and Cheif Director of Research and Development. Together they developed custom compound resins for many industrial applications until the sale of the company’s sale in 2002. Stan was then recruited by S&E Polymers in Lunenburg MA. to head their research team and continued to assist S&E in search of new product uses. In 2010, Stanley was awarded The 26th Annual Distinguished Career Award given by the Wire and Cable Manufactures Alliance group, held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut. He retired from S&E Polymers at the age of 91. Outside of the industry, Stanley was an active member of the Canton Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Gerard’s Magellan Church. For many years he had been a family member of the Ponkapoag Civic Association. He adored the game of tennis and played daily at the Thoreau Tennis Club in Concord and played Golf where he was a member of Indian Ridge Country Club. He achieved 3 whole in ones and became a member of the P.G.A. Hole- In -One Club 3 times!!! Stanley was a voracious reader, enjoyed the daily Boston Globe crossword puzzle especially the Sunday New York Times puzzle. He loved watching all Boston sports and looked forward to weekly golf tournaments specially The Masters and Tennis Tournaments favorites being The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open in NY which he attended many times. Visiting hours will be held at the Dockray & Thomas funeral home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday April 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Monday morning April 17th at 11:30.
