James A. Lombardo

James A. Lombardo, of North Andover passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading following a period of declining health. He was 84. James was the beloved husband for nearly fifty years of the late Charlotte J. (Marino) Lombardo who passed away in 2014. Born in Boston, James was one of six children of the late Anthony and Francesca (Rallo) Lombardo.

James was raised and educated in Boston's North End. He was a graduate of Northeastern University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting. James also proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being honorably released from active duty. When James returned home, he began a long career as an Accountant working for the Perkin Elmer Company of Wellesley, formerly EGG, specializing in government contracts. He retired as Assistant to the Vice President following a career that spanned over forty years.

James was an avid reader, he studied and followed the Stock Market, kept up with current events, loved following Boston sports, enjoyed a good movie and sunny Sundays sitting by the pool. However, his greatest joy was his family and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by his children and his adored grandchildren whom he was so proud of with their many academic and sporting accomplishments. He always looked forward to dinner and especially Sunday dinner and time spent with family. He will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his devoted children, Lois (Lombardo) Maravelis and her husband Arthur of North Andover, and James A. Lombardo, Jr. of Andover. He was the loving grandpa of Evan, James and Charlotte Maravelis, all of North Andover. Brother of Annette Spinella and her husband Robert of Reading, the late Isabella Lovasco, Rosalie Giacchetto, Mary Lombardo, and Anna Tortorici. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, April 13th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St., ANDOVER, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in James' memory to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA 01867.
