Edwin H. Hammond age 94, of Canton passed away February 14th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holden, MA, he has lived in Canton for over 80 years. He graduated from Canton High School, was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp and worked for many years as a Field Supervisor for Emerson & Cummings. Ed was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton, a member of the Blue Hill Mason Lodge in Canton and a 32nd Degree Scottish Right Mason. Ed also served for many years on the Canton Veteran’s Service Department providing Military Honors for many deceased veterans from the Town of Canton. He stayed active into his later years and enjoyed golfing, tennis, and bike riding.
Beloved husband of the late Christine M. “Tina” Hammond (Mitcheroney). Father of Kathleen Knowles and her husband Wayne of FL, Carol Hammond of Taunton, Nancy Nagelschmidt and her husband Fritz of FL, Gail Avelar and her husband Finny of Stoughton, and Amy Duquette and her husband Peter of Walpole. Brother of the late Beverly Remiesiewicz. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandsons Michael Avelar, Kenneth Richbourg, and Kyle Jacobs. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday February 21st 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
