Edward L. Poznysz
1/20/2023

Edward L. Poznysz, aged 89, died January 20, 2023 surrounded by his beloved family at home following a lengthy illness.
He was the first son of Zygmunt Poznysz and Mieczyslawa (Mary) Lawski and was predeceased by his two younger brothers, Henry and Richard.
He was a hard working and loving man, valuing family above all else. He was the first person in his family to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University, followed by his first Master’s Degree in Education at State College at Boston (now University of Massachusetts Boston) and then a second Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
In many ways, his entire life was dedicated to youth and children. Following his service in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War era as a pharmacist and deemed “too valuable” for deployment outside of Bainbridge, Maryland, despite his pleas to the contrary, Ed began a career in teaching chemistry and, occasionally, physics, to the students of Canton, Massachusetts at Canton High School for 34 years. Although he worked as a pharmacist before his military service, Ed continued his dedication to youth, working as a pharmacist at the Massachusetts Hospital School for Children in Canton (now Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children) for 27 years. He worked two jobs for the majority of his working years, ensuring a good and stable life for his beloved family.
In his free time, Ed was a passionate traveler, exploring as much of the world as he could, with trips to Poland, the Soviet Union (back when the Soviet Union existed), Israel and the Middle East, China, all of Western Europe, Brazil and South America, taking his children to see the world with him. He was also an avid gardener, using his chemistry knowledge and expertise to grow the biggest and tastiest tomatoes in the neighborhood, sharing them far and wide.
He leaves behind his wife and of 55 years and the love of his life, Florence J (Dzielak) Poznysz, his son, Edward and his wife Christa, of Quincy, his daughter Julieanne (Poznysz) Goodrich and her husband, James, of Canton and his two grandchildren who brought out the kid in him, Alexander and Annabelle Goodrich, of Canton, as well as cousins in Poland and Everett, MA.
The family would welcome the opportunity to see you and reminisce at the wake on Sunday January 29, 2023 from 2pm to 6pm at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Canton, MA. A funeral mass will be said Monday January 30, 2023 at 10AM at St Oscar Romero Church, 700 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Burial will be private at a later date.
If desired, donations may be made in Ed’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
