Obituary

After a long illness, Ruth Ann (Reed) Briggs, age 80, of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023 in her home surrounded by loved ones. The passing of Ruth Briggs has highlighted a legacy of love and dedication of an amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. To us, she was our queen and forever angel.

Ruth Ann was born on April 22, 1942, to Emma (Taylor) and Edwin Reed. She was sister to Edwin, Jr., Franny, Barbara, Roy, and Mark. They grew up on Thatcher St. in Brockton, MA next door to Ruth’s future in-laws David E. “Pappy” and Marjorie Briggs and their children David, Joan, Carl, Roland, Joyce, Patricia, Bruce, Betty, Woodrow, Marilyn, and Roger Briggs, Ruth’s true love and husband of 57 years.

Ruth and Roger committed the U.S. Air Force for over forty years. Their patriotism and passion for the United States inspired their children and grandchildren to serve in the military.

In addition to the military community, Ruth also loved baking, caring for others, Lifetime movies, flowers, and being a jokester. She dedicated her life to taking care of elderly patients to ensure their golden years were filled with dignity and love.
Ruth and Roger cherished the holidays and ensured they were full of love. They enjoyed spending time together with their family and friends, many nights at bingo, annual cruises, traveling, family dinners, watching game shows, listening to music and dancing. Her last voyage was a 23-day cruise where she and Roger were able to return to Hawaii to relive their honeymoon.

Ruth is survived by her three children Bruce and his wife Madeleine Briggs of Brockton, Kevin and his wife Denise Briggs of Sutter Creek, CA and Tina Briggs of Lancaster, NH and by her grandchildren Chris, Ashley, Cassie, Kevin, Troy, Sean, and Shayne. She also leaves her treasured great grandchildren Eva, Lilly, Sophia, Isabella, Riley, Charlotte, Penelope, Bryce, Brady, Harper, Madelyn, Roselynn, and Lilly. She was predeceased by two heavenly grandchildren David T. Briggs and Alexander J. Briggs. She was the sister of Edward J. Reed, Jr., Barbara Jones, Roy Andrade and Mark Andrade. Her family is indebted to her two caregivers Katia and Suzanna.
We will miss you, but you’ll never be forgotten and will always live in our hearts. Until we meet again, say “hi” to those loved ones who have already made their journey to the other side.
