BROOME, Janet M. (Alger), 80, of Wellesley, MA, formerly of Merrimack, NH, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. Former wife of the late Gerard J. Broome. Loving mother of four children and their spouses: Michelle C. and Kurt Swenson, Jr. of Auburn, NH; Christopher J. and Thuy Broome of Loudon, TN; Julia M. and the late John Swanson of Londonderry, NH; and Jonathan J. and Susan Broome of Barrington, NH. Sister of Claire Coleman of Westwood, and the late Barbara Ringrose. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
An avid crafter and amateur artist, Janet loved to create, often gifting her beautiful and unique projects to her loved ones. She also had a talent for restoring antiques. After a long career in electronics, she studied art and photography at the University of Massachusetts.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the clinical staff at Newton-Wellesley Center for Alzheimer's Care, where Janet resided for nearly a decade, who patiently and compassionately cared for Janet and her fellow residents.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Wellesley, on Tuesday, December 20 from 12-1pm followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
