John F. Walsh, age 71, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 4, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Ann D. (Donovan) Walsh, to whom he was wed for forty years.

Born in Boston, MA on April 10, 1951, he was a loving son of Mary J. (Donohoe) Walsh of Falmouth and the late Frederick J. Walsh.

John grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. For six years, he proudly served as a member of the United States Army Reserve. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past thirty years.

Prior to retiring, John worked for the Telephone Company. He retired as a Technician when the company operated under the name of Verizon, following a career that spanned for over forty years.

A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, John loved spending time with his adoring family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, a baseball fan and his family will always remember with fondness, the lifelong memories he created with them on family trips and vacations.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his devoted children: William Walsh of Mansfield, Thomas Walsh of Mansfield and Mary MacNeil and her husband Ryan of Walpole. He was the cherished grandfather of Sophia Walsh and Parker MacNeil. He was the dear brother of James Walsh and his wife Kathleen of Maine, Joanne McDermott and her husband John of Wareham and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, December 9th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street #501, Boston, MA 02210.
