Ferne E. (Gorman) Gollock, of Medford, passed away on Sunday, November 27th. She was 74. Born in Reno, Nevada and raised in Medford, she was the cherished daughter of the late Samuel and Sylvia (Kravetz) Gorman.

Words of remembrance shared by Karol, Ferne’s daughter in-law.

“Our hearts are filled with sadness. After a conversation with her, I would have to google her words to be sure I understood what she was saying (and she liked it that way), her vocabulary was prodigious. Her family was everything to her. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate a new job; an engagement or any life event. She was really just celebrating us. She showered the people she loved with “presents” mostly personalized or a gadget you never knew you couldn’t live without.

She loved to be the reason someone smiled or felt special. Ferne was the type of mother that never lost faith. She supported everything we did, every decision we made, she loved us unconditionally. Daniel was her shining star, and I was a prize. Grammy was Ferne’s favorite title. She loved all her grandchildren Brandan, Mikaela, Nick and her “beautiful girl”, Samantha Rose. Whether it was 2 AM grilled cheese, writing a resume, being the loudest cheerleader or checking Google classroom for missing assignments, she was thrilled doing it. With shattered hearts, we will remember a few of Ferne’s last words to Sam. “Always be kind”.”

Ferne was the devoted mother of Daniel Gollock and his wife Karol. She was the loving Grammy of Samantha Rose, Nicholas, Brandan and his wife Mikaela. She was the dear sister of Diana Gorman.
