John A. Matanes of Canton passed away November 6th. Born and raised in S. Boston he graduated from S. Boston High School and was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as an MDC Police Officer for many years before retiring and also worked part time as a painter and wall paper hanger. John was an avid Boston Sports fan and most especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Beloved husband of Joanne M. (Sikora). Father of Dorothy Cicchetti of Plymouth, John A. Matanes of canton, Diane Matanes of S. Attleboro, Edward Matanes and his wife Nancy of Berkley, and the late Christine Matanes. Brother of Florence Breen of Quincy and Mark Matanes of Canton. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Parish Canton Thursday morning at 10:00. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. | |||||
