Thomas J. Pelletier, 85, of Salem, passed away peacefully at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody on Saturday, October 29, 2022 following a long illness. He was the loving husband of Joan M. (Dupray) Pelletier, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Gerard L. and Elizabeth T. (Corbett) Pelletier. Following his graduation from Salem High School, he Joined the Marine Corps in 1954 and served stateside as a jet engine mechanic earning the rank of Sergeant. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and married Joan, the love of his life. For 28 years he worked as a cutter and fabricator of parts for Ryerson Steel in Allston. Tom retired in 1993.
Devoted to his wife and family, Tom also enjoyed hunting with his lifelong friend Dick Pelletier. He was an avid gardener and reader of historical books, but one of his favorite pastimes was cooking family holiday meals.
He is survived by his daughters; Nicole E. Desmond and husband Joseph of Brooklyn, NY, Kathleen E. Schiff of Salem, his sons, Salem Police Detective, Thomas G. Pelletier and wife Carolyn of Salem, and Eric J. Szostek and wife Michelle of Tewksbury, and grandchildren; Lucienne & Thomas J. Pelletier, Sophia & Justin Schiff, and Mikayla & Quinn Szostek. He also leaves nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Pelletier and brother, Vincent Pelletier.
Relatives and friends are invited gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM to be followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, [Route 114] North St. on the Salem / Peabody line, at 11:00 AM. Burial & Military Honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are on Thursday, Nov. 3rd at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
