Richard Wayne Smith, 72 of Danvers, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Medford Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Medford, following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol A. (Dionne) Smith with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.
Born in Salem and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Roy L. and Laura E. (Doane) Smith. Richard was a graduate of Beverly High School. Throughout his career, he worked in many different fields but he preferred being known as an independent electrical handyman.
He and Carol enjoyed family holidays and get-togethers and their many trips to Florida.
Richard is survived by his brothers and sister, David W. Smith of East Boston, Robert A. Smith and his wife Barbara of Maine, Judith A. Hallisey of Exeter, NH and Roger L. Smith and his wife Judi of Beverly as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem at 10:30 A.M. Guest are asked to gather inside the main entrance gate on the corner of Appleton and Orne Streets at 10:15 A.M. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial contribution to the charity of your choice. There will be no visiting hours.
