Obituary

Shiela O’Duggan Luttazi, 90, a resident of West Yarmouth and formerly of Dover, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, surrounded by her children.

Shiela was born on April 16, 1932, to John Terrance and Frances Murray O’Duggan. Shiela, together with her sister Brigid and her brothers Donnell and Terrance, were raised in Wellesley. After graduating from Regis College, Shiela became a home economics educator in Brookline and later in Dover. Shiela met her husband Phillip Settimio Luttazi on the steps of the Dover Town Hall. After nearly 25 years of marriage, Phillip passed away in 1984.

Shiela loved summering on Cape Cod during her childhood, and in 1993 she became a full-time resident at the family home in West Yarmouth. A proud Wianno senior sailor, she was happiest on the water and swimming. Come fall you could find her rooting for the Notre Dame football team, and winter was Celtics time. Come spring, Shiela never missed the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, or the Belmont Stakes, always hoping to see a Triple Crown Winner.

An amazing mom, Shiela never wavered in her support of her children, even during their adulthood, always more concerned with their well-being than her own. Her total devotion to her son Jeff Luttazi of West Yarmouth and daughter-in-law Beverly Luttazi of Taunton, her daughter Tracy Luttazi Wrobel and son-in-law Anthony Wrobel of Medfield, her daughter Cristin Frances Luttazi and son-in-law Daniel Rosenthal of West Yarmouth, and her grandchildren Olivia and Bretton Luttazi was incredible and will not be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 4-7 pm, at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, followed by a Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 25, 10 am, at The Church of the Most Precious Blood, 30 Centre St., Dover. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery in Dover following the Mass.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Attn: Donations Department, PO Box 151200, San Rafael, CA 94915-1200, or online at www.guidedogs.com.
