Obituary



Joseph “Joe” Calapai, died unexpectedly on August 13, 2022. He would have said that he was 25 at the time of his passing (he was 50). He lived in Brockton for most of his life, with some time in Florida and Weymouth. Joe was a graduate of BC High in 1990 and University of Miami in 1994.

Joe is survived by his wife, Joy Picknarcik-Calapai, son Mitchell Calapai, and daughters Samantha and Christina Calapai. Also, his father Frank Calapai and his wife, Claire Calapai, as well as beloved aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, and friends. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Calapai.

Joe enjoyed travel, finding (and wearing) silly hats, music, jokes, reading, Star Trek, sports, and spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his 3 kids and spent a lot of time bringing them to hockey, coaching them, and making them laugh. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. A gathering at the funeral home for a funeral procession to Melrose Cemetery will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 9:45 am.
