Rui S. DeSousa, 89, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 with his family by his side. He was the husband of Nancy (Cabrera) DeSousa.
Mr. DeSousa was born in St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel and Eva (Perreira) DeSousa and had resided in Westport since 1971. Prior to retirement, he worked as a weaver for Quaker Fabrics, Fall River. He was a hard worker and a talented carpenter. He enjoyed gardening and fishing but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 sons: Edward DeSousa and his wife Robin of Westport and Hamilton DeSousa of Westport; 4 sisters: Miquelina Oliveira and Bibiana Medeiros both of Canada, Filomena Melo and Helena Marion both of Brazil; 2 grandchildren: Jillian and Stephanie; 4 great grandchildren: Kylie, Ian, Madison and Aiden; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Maria Santos.
