AGAWAM – Thomas J. Laliberte, 64, of Agawam and a former longtime resident of Grattan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 15, 1958, a beloved son of the late James E. and Gladys M. (Sicard) Laliberte. He was raised and educated in Bridgeport before moving to California and later had lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Agawam in 2020. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Launching and Recovery Petty Officer First Class. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Two Bronze Stars, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with One Bronze Star, the Joint Meritorius Unit Award, Three Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal and the Battle E Ribbon with One Bronze Star for his military service. He was employed as a Tractor Trailer Operator for several local companies for many years. During his leisure time, he enjoyed motorcycling. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his four loving children, Jason E. Laliberte and his wife, Jillian, and Andrew T. Gould, all of Chicopee, Matthew G. Gould of Granby and Michael Laliberte of South Hadley; his five cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis Jaylynn and Julian Laliberte and Carly Gould; his four dear sisters, Cherie, Michele and Toni Laliberte and Patricia LaBonte; his former wife, Deborah (Martin) Laliberte; his companion of many years, Carolyn Gould of South Hadley; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Joseph Laliberte; and his dear sister, Deborah Talbot. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
