Joseph M. "Moe" Giguere

CHICOPEE – Joseph M. “Moe” Giguere, 80, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at the River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Auburn, Maine on January 31, 1942, a beloved son of the late Alcide and Aime R. (Lessard) Giguere. His early years were spent in Auburn, Maine and in 1949, he moved with his parents to Chicopee where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed for 38 years as a Process Engineer at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT and retired from their Middletown, CT facility. While working for the company, Moe traveled to many places including Belgium, Japan, Korea and Turkey to share his engineering expertise. He was a former communicant of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee where he also served his parish as a Committeeman for the Cub Scouts and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Instructor. He was proud to have been the recipient of the Pope Pius X Medal and was also awarded the Parishioner of the Year Award. He currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was a member and coach of the Aldenville Junior Athletic Club (AJAC). During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and photography. He and his wife, Alice, enjoyed wintering for over 17 years in Stuart, Florida. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Alice L. (Boucher) Giguere. They were married on September 7, 1964 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Joseph L. Giguere and his wife, Lisa, of Windsor, CT, Thomas J. Giguere and his wife, Phyllis, of Ware, James J. Giguere and his wife, Pamela, of Belchertown, and Aimee L. Fucci of Glastonbury, CT; his seven cherished grandchildren, Hailey Giguere and Zachary Giguere, Matthew Giguere and Rebecca Chapdelaine, Luke Giguere and Cal Fucci and Camille Fucci; his two dear sisters, Muriel Sampson of Fort Worth, TX and Nancy Barnes and her husband, Robert, of Chicopee; his dear brother in law, David Boucher and his wife, Cheryl, of Chicopee; his dear sister in law, Carol Giguere of Danvers, MA; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his five dear siblings, Bern Giguere, Rita Morin, Yvette Demers, Raymond Giguere and Emilienne Desrochers. His Funeral will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
