Marcia Ann (Mazzeo) Barnard

SPRINGFIELD – Marcia A. (Mazzeo) Barnard, 85, a longtime resident of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield and later a resident of Quail Run in Agawam, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam with her loving sister, Marie at her side. She was born in Springfield on Sunday, March 21, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Myron F. Mazzeo and Rose A. (DiSantis) Mazzeo. She was raised in the South End section of Springfield, attended Springfield schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was previously employed at General Offset Printing, the Mass Mutual Insurance Company and had last worked in payroll processing for the Springfield School Department. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband of over 56 years, Alfred A. “Buddy” Barnard, Jr. who was Called Home on January 3, 2018. She leaves her devoted sister, Marie J. Renaud of Agawam, her two children, Peter A. Barnard and his wife, Jennifer and Rose Marie Thomas and her husband, Steven; her five grandchildren, Jordan Barnard, Hannah Barnard and her husband, Josh, Joe Barnard, Kyle Thomas and Jessica Thomas; her two nieces, Cheryl L’Heureux and her husband, Roy, and Debbie Clark and her husband, Butch; and her many cousins. She was predeceased by her dear brother-in-law, Alberic Renaud and her sisters-in-law, Beverly Sullivan and her husband, Maurice and Virginia Keating and her husband, Robert. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
