Corcoran, Paul Reid Of Needham passed away after 90 years of purposeful living on June 7, 2022. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Carol (Brooks) Corcoran. He is survived by his four children, Janet (Tom) Gorman of North Hampton, NH, Philip (Giovanna) Corcoran of Chevy Chase, MD, John (Barbara) Corcoran of Waban, MA and Clare (Ben) Bonifant of Raleigh, NC, and ten grandchildren. Brother of Dennis (Marie) Corcoran of Newton and Ellen Corcoran of Delray Beach, FL. He was born and raised in Cambridge and was a proud graduate of Harvard College, class of 1954. He was a businessman, community servant, avid sportsman, and above all a teacher of the things he loved to the young. Paul managed the 100+ year old family retail business J.H. Corcoran & Co. and co-founded The Harvard Shop in Cambridge. He served on numerous boards, committees and in leadership roles for a local bank, for his alma mater, and for the Harvard Club of Boston. Paul shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends, pursuing year round sports on land and sea. He devoted much of his retirement to the Boys & Girls Club of Chelsea as a mentor and math and reading tutor. He never met a stranger, and cherished all he knew.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1382 Highland Ave., Needham on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Paul may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, 200 High St., Suite 3B, Boston, MA 02110.
