Barbara Crosby
5/23/2022

Barbara Jane Crosby. age 61, of CANTON, MA passed away surrounded by her loving family at her side on May 23, 2022. She was one of six children of the late Thomas E. and Betty F. Hulbert of Hingham, MA. She was the beloved wife of Stephen L. Crosby for 38 years. She was the mother of Rachel Crosby Lempert and her husband Aaron of Wendell, MA and her son Brian Crosby of Steamboat Springs, CO. She was the sibling of Sally Foster and her husband B. Michael of N.C., James Hulbert and his wife Mary Beth of NH, Judy Dupuis and her husband Jonathan of NH, Susan Murphy and her husband David of MA, and the late David R. Hulbert. Barbara was known by many names- to her children’s friends she was "Mama Croz"; "Auntie Baba" to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and as “Mimi” to her beloved granddaughter Maia Luna Lempert.

Barbara grew up in Hingham, MA in a neighborhood full of children. She has enjoyed living in the suburbs of Boston, and settled down in Canton, MA, where she and her husband have lived for almost 40 years. She had worked in various retail stores before finding her passion in caring for others. She has worked in nursing homes and as a Home Health Aide for the past 30 years. She enjoyed working with people who couldn’t otherwise live in their homes independently. She brought joy and sunshine when she walked in the door and was often welcomed into their lives.

Barbara enjoyed skiing and loved growing up at the Highlands Ski area as a weekend warrior. She loved spending time with family and having fun living the ski area life.

She shared this passion for life with the ocean as well, spending most of her summers with the Crosby family on Cape Cod in Mashpee. Barbara's love for the Crosby family and vice versa, is so deep and genuine. Her loving energy was helped created by Betty Crosby and the late Ralph Crosby. Stephen's siblings and cousins live close by and in California and have so much love and support for Barbara, Stephen and their family. The boating and beach time always brought her peace and solace.

She was the most loving, generous, caring, and supportive friend and relative to so many who will miss her dearly. She made this world a better place. Barbara made everyone's life that she touched a little more interesting and definitely more exciting. She enjoyed so many activities and would very rarely be found sitting still. If she wasn’t traveling with Stephen on vacation or attending music festivals with Brian and Rachel and family, she would be home gardening and taking care of everyone else. If you were ever in need, she would be the one to be there. Our lives were made better by her being with us, and we will be forever changed without her. Barbara’s motto is to "LIVE - LOVE - LAUGH"!

There will be a celebration of life for Barbara in the near future posted online; location and time TBD.
