Mariamma Mathew of Dedham, May 11, 2022. Mariamma was born in Ala, Chengannur, Kerala, India on June 21st, 1939. She is the eldest of eight children to the late Mr. P.G. Varghese & Mrs. Aleyamma Varghese.
Growing up, Mariamma was brought up in a Christ centered home. She was dedicated by the missionary and founder of the Church of God, Rev. & Mrs. Robert F. Cook. As a teenager, she was water baptized, as well as, received the gift of prophesy at a young age. After marrying her late husband, Mathew T. Oommen, on April 21st, 1964, they moved to Mumbai, India. She served the Lord actively at the Elizabeth School, Mizhar Hall-Chembur and later at the IPC Church, Vashi in Navi Mumbai.
She migrated to the United States in 2006, where she and her late husband lived memorable years with their children and grandchildren. She, along with her late husband, were dedicated members of the Blue Hill Community Church in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mariamma was a zealous prayer warrior who interceded for her family, church, and friends. Her heart empathized for those in need. She was the living embodiment of faith, kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and the finest cook.
She was predeceased by her late husband Mathew T. Oommen, and is survived by; Daughter, Lizy James and her husband James Joseph; Daughter, Jessy George and her husband James George; Son, Shaji Mathew and his wife Shainy Mathew; Daughter, Susan Bijoy and her husband Bijoy George. As well as her ten cherished grandchildren, Blessy James, Jeffrey George and his wife, Rose George, Betsy James, Shalomy Mathew, Janice George and her fiancé, Jenson George, Sneha Bijoy, Sharon Mathew & Samuel Mathew.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Friday, May 13 from 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 14 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.
