Robert E. Askew, Sr., 76

Robert E. Askew, Sr., age 76, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Born in Attleboro, MA on August 27, 1945, he was a loving son of the late Richard M., Sr and Hazel (Johnson) Askew.

Bob grew up and was educated in Easton and was a member of the Oliver Ames High School Class of 1963. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on September 26, 1966 with the rank of Torpedoman’s Mate Third Class.

Bob worked very hard to support his adoring family. Prior to retiring he was employed as a long- haul printing press rigger, a truck driver, a quality printer and the former owner the Regal Press Company in Norwood.

Bob’s family always came first and his love for them was unconditional. While his children were growing up, he attended all of their sporting events and he, himself, was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. His hobbies included fishing, tending to his vegetable gardens and aquariums with his son Chad, watching the History Chanel and spending time at the ocean and beaches.

He is survived by his devoted children: Andrea O’Connor and her companion Alan Angus of Raynham, Marianne St. George and her companion Jimmy Cram of Holliston, Deanna Vicente and her husband Tony of Maynard, Rob Askew, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Bloomington, Indiana, Chad Askew of Mansfield and the late Gina O’Leary. He was the dear brother of Gloria Weir of Norton, Karen Iolli of Lakeville, Susan Cargill of Easton and the late James Askew and Richard Askew, Jr. He is also survived by his cherished 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, May 13th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 11 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Furnace Village Cemetery in Easton
