Marguerite A. Schmidt
Marguerite Anita (Fardy) Schmidt, aged 87, of Mystic died April 24.
She was born May 20, 1934 in New London, CT. to Lawrence William and Louise Miner Fardy. She attended the Williams School. She was predeceased by her spouse of 53 years, Paul William Schmidt.
Marguerite is survived by daughters Paula (Arthur) Rabe of Newton, MA. and Meg (Carlos) Mayer-Costa of Pittsburgh, PA. She was the proud grandmother of Tomas and Mario Mayer-Costa and had no issue with being called out for spoiling them. She simply smiled her smile and agreed.
Marguerite loved many things, including her family and friends, her beagles, the beach, UCONN in all forms especially basketball, her faith and her church St. Mark's Episcopal. She had a wonderful gift for history and a knack for memorizing people, places and dates easily. She was funny and direct, but always with kindness and generosity.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial garden service at St. Mark's Church, 15 Pearl Street, Mystic on Sunday, May 1, at 11:30 am.
