HARTIGAN, Gerard “Gerry” Francis of Hudson, formerly of Sudbury, died peacefully, on April 22, 2022, at the age of 72 after a two-year battle with blood cancer. The son of the late Nora and William Joseph Hartigan, he was born in Dorchester and grew up in West Roxbury.

Gerry was the beloved husband of Karen (Curtis) of Scituate for 48 years. Devoted father of Kelley Leimkuhler and her husband Andrew of Acton, and Katherine Chiarelli and her husband Matthew of Westborough; loving gramps of Thomas, Carolyn, Eleanor, William and Madison; dear brother of Kathleen Kelley (Edmund) and Kevin (Patricia) both of West Roxbury and Gay (Fiore) of Park Ridge, NJ; also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William J. Hartigan, Jr.

He was a proud graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. His college life was interrupted by his call to duty in the United States Army Air Corps during the Vietnam War. He ultimately earned his undergraduate degree and master’s in accounting at Bentley College becoming a CPA and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at New England School of Law. Additionally, he earned a Masters in Tax Law at Boston University. Gerry had lengthy careers in accounting and estate planning culminating in 20 years of private practice in Sudbury.

Although a perpetual student, with a love of growing his list of degrees, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. Gerry had a lifelong love of the beach that evolved from attending bonfires, to sailing with friends and family, to picnics in the sand with his grandchildren.
