Carol J. (McCarthy) Mayall, age 79, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was the beloved wife of the late James Douglas Mayall, to whom she was wed for fifty-two years at the time of his death on July 2, 2019.

Born in Cambridge, MA on June 20, 1942, she was a loving daughter of the late William W. and Helen M. (Hoyt) McCarthy.

Carol grew up in Cambridge and Attleboro and was a 1960 graduate of Attleboro High School. She continued her studies, graduating from the Salem Hospital School for Nursing in 1963.

Prior to retiring, Carol had worked for twenty years as a Registered Nurse for the Visiting Nurse Agency in Attleboro. She had made her home in Mansfield for over fifty years and was a member of the Mansfield Congregational Church.

Carol’s favorite times were those spent with her adoring family. She was an avid reader, loved spending time at the beach and traveling with her friends. She was an exceptional caregiver and will always be remembered for her generous nature and the special place in her heart for animals, especially the Golden Retrievers that adorned her home throughout the years.

She is survived by her devoted children: Tracey J. Mayall Ledoux and her husband Ray of Tewksbury and James C. Mayall and his wife Marin of Belmont. She was the cherished grandmother of Charlotte and Tyler Mayall and Jack and Aubrey Ledoux. She was the dear sister of William McCarthy and his wife Bobette of New Hampshire, Ruth Johnson and her husband John of South Attleboro, Robert McCarthy and his wife Janet of Attleboro, Joan Carreiro of Attleboro and is also survived by her loving nieces.

Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, April 29th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
