George L. Beal, Sr., 83

George L. “Buddy” Beal, Sr., age 83, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the loving longtime companion of Linda J. Karter of Mansfield and the beloved husband of the late Marguerite (Jenkins) “Gaye” Beal.

Born in Wilmington, MA on February 28, 1939, he was the loving son of the late George E. and Anne (Walsh) Beal.

Buddy grew up in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Boston Trade School. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country for two years as a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on July 1, 1959 with the rank of Seaman (E-3).

A resident of Mansfield for over twenty-five years, he had previously lived in Roslindale. Prior to retiring, Buddy had worked for fifteen years as a Dispatcher at Star Market in Westwood. He was previously employed, in charge of Security, at Copley Plaza in Boston and also in numerous capacities at Elm Street Garage in Mansfield.

Buddy’s family was the essence of his life and he received so much pleasure when surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout the years he was a classic car enthusiast and will always be remembered for the special place in his heart for animals.

In addition to his companion Linda, he is survived by his devoted children: Daniel Beal of Norwood, George “Buddy” Beal, Jr. of Hull, Joseph Beal of Avon, Christopher Beal of Framingham, Maria Beal Delgenio of East Kingston, NH and the late Stephen Beal. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and his best and faithful four-legged friend “Sadie”.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, April 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27th at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial, along with military honors, will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
