Dortha “Pauline” Maki (Staton), 92, of Camarillo, California, passed away on April 18th, 2022, in Camarillo, California. Pauline was born in Braggs, Oklahoma, to Thomas and Eunice Staton (Garrison) on May 10th, 1929. She enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her flowers, serving in her church, singing, reading her bible, jigsaw puzzles, baking, cooking, studying maps and crocheting. Pauline’s faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. She was a faithful member of Ventura Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
Pauline is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Girsch of Ventura, California, and Taina Garcia of Camarillo, California, son-in-law, Robert Garcia, her sister, Beatrice Liubakka, of Redding, California, her eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, son-in-law, James Girsch, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Maki, on December 9,1992, and her son, William Charles Maki, on May 12, 1971, her parents, Thomas Arthur and Eunice Geneva Staton, her seven siblings; Betty, Virginia, Jennie, John “Melvin”, Gordon, Jess “Edward” and Jerry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ventura Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. 1113 E Main St. Ventura, CA. 93001. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Aasta Hospice Home Health for their nurturing care of Pauline in her last days. Heaven has gained another precious soul, another song leader. Although our hearts are grieved, we are rejoicing for all that she has gained in Heaven. We hold fast to the truth that our time spent apart will not compare to time spent together in eternity.
A memorial service will be held at Ventura Landmark Missionary Baptist in Ventura, CA., on April 24th, 2022, at 12:30pm. A gravesite ceremony will be held at the Eternal Valley Cemetery in Newhall, CA., on April 25th, 2022, at 1pm with Pastor Tom DeSoto of Ventura Landmark Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
