O’DEA, Richard Martin of West Roxbury passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 18, 2022. Born in Kiltrogue, County Galway, Ireland the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Costello) O’Dea. Beloved husband of 40 years to Kathleen M. (Ahearn) O’Dea. Devoted father of Michael Patrick O’Dea of West Roxbury and Megan Marchese and her husband Andrew of Holliston. Cherished grandfather of Evelyn and Vivian Marchese. Dear brother of Mary Kirwan, Freda Morrissey, Teresa Kilgarriff, Dermot, Richard, Gerard, Michael John O’Dea all of Ireland and Martin of Natick. He was the brother of the late Bernie Hession. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Ireland. Richard was a longtime employee of the Boston Housing Authority and proud member of the Boston Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ Local 534, and a member of the Galway Hurling Club-Boston. Relatives and friends are kindly to attend visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Friday, April 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 o’clock.
