Susan M. (Feeney) Hendry, 67, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Kaplan family Hospice House in Danvers following a valiant battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of John S. Hendry.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George C. Feeney and Janet “Rae” (Newhouse) Feeney. A graduate of Salem High, Class of ’72 she attended Boston College and Salem State College. As a young mother, Susan worked part-time in the family bowling business and then worked in banking before a twenty-two-year career at EBSCO Publishing of Ipswich where Susan made some wonderful friends. Susan was devoted to her family and large extended Feeney family as she was known for her kind, generous heart, baking cookies and Ina Garten’s Outrageous Brownies, and for being the life of the party. Susan was a woman of many creative talents, she loved cooking, baking, quilting, sewing and was a fan of all kinds of music and the performing arts. She had a great love for all animals but her “feline friends” held a very special place in her heart. Her fondest memories were of summer vacations with her grandchildren Joshua and Taylor, often taking long car rides exploring the mid-Atlantic coast of Cape May, shopping trips to North Conway and driving up Mount Washington. Although she loved to travel all around New England, she always considered Disney to be the happiest place on earth. Susan was a tremendous sports fan, particularly football where she was deeply knowledgeable about college and professional football; her all-time favorite team was the New England Patriots. She also had the distinguished honor of being the first woman to serve on the New England Patriots’ Game Day Statistics Crew. Susan will be missed by so many.

In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by her two sons, Norman S. Burnett, Jr. and his wife Jennifer and grandson Joshua and granddaughter Taylor of Beverly, Matthew G. Burnett of Salem, her four siblings; Kathleen E. Feeney of Peabody, Peter “Marty’” Feeney and wife Connie and their son Declan of Salem, Kimberley A. (Feeney) Zollo and husband Robert and sons Ryan and Brendan of Lynn, Michael P. Feeney and wife Karlene and daughter Emily of Salem. She also leaves her best and life-long friend, Mary Ellen Reardon of Quincy.
