Clara J. Matarazzo
1/10/2022

Clara J. Matarazzo, age 98, a lifelong resident of Somerville passed away peacefully at the Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge, Monday, January 10, 2022. Clara was born in East Boston, on July 6, 1923 to Italian immigrant parents, the late Joseph and Micheline (Mazzarell) Matarazzo. She resided for most of her life at her childhood home in Somerville. She shared and lived her life with her late sister Archetta Aurigemma, and her brother-in-law Bruno and their three children Leonard, Michael and Laurie. She was the third oldest child of eight siblings. She was predeceased by Rosario Aurigemma, Antonetta Ruggiero, Anthony Matarazzo, Dolores Riley, Archetta Aurigemma and Robert Matarazzo. She leaves behind her youngest sibling, Margaret Bouyer of Reading.

Clara was extremely dedicated to family and her faith. She selflessly sacrificed her personal life to raise her three youngest siblings following the death of her mother. Clara was hard working and was loved by all who knew her. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Clara was lovingly cared for in her final years at Santa Maria Nursing Home by an incredible, loving and professional staff, especially Mary Alleyene, who was often by her side. We thank them for all their love, care and kindness!

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather for calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Wednesday, January 19th, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Clara’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
