Obituary

McMorrow, Patricia (Boyle) of Needham passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 7th with family by her side. She was 91. We are so grateful to have had her with us for so many years.

Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Eugene S. McMorrow. She leaves her sons, Brian R. of Quincy, Kevin P. of Norway, ME, Barry J. of Summerton, SC; a daughter, Kathleen A. of Dover; and 6 grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Elizabeth Sullivan of Belmont and brother Charles Boyle of Canton, and many loving nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her sons Terence E. and Stephen J. and her sisters Charlotte Higgins and Harriet Ecker.

Born in Quincy, raised in Houghs Neck, she was the first of four daughters born to Charles Boyle and Mary (Maloney) Boyle. Patricia was a graduate of St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester, and Emmanuel College, where she attended on full scholarship and served as Class President during her Junior and Senior years. She met her future husband on the beach in Green Harbor, and they were married in 1954. Settling in Needham, she was a devoted and loving mother to her 6 children.

Patricia’s kind, gracious spirit and beautiful smile were omnipresent throughout her life. As her college classmates wrote of her in 1952, “Patricia in the dignity of Class President is still lovingly Pat in her rare powers of friendliness and ability to be all things to all. To see her in class functioning is to see calm, collected, quiet efficiency. Her indescribably winning smile, her all-embracing glances, her sunny disposition win all hearts.”

Her greatest joys included spending time with her family. Every year she hosted countless get togethers for birthday celebrations and holidays. Fourth of July celebrations at her home in Needham were an annual tradition spanning more than 50 years, always eagerly anticipated and well attended by her sisters and their families. Throughout her life Patricia was grateful for her education; she endeavored to extend the opportunities she had been given through her strong support of the educations of her children and grandchildren, as well as through support of many educational institutions. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Bartholomew Parish.

Patricia was a source of endless love and encouragement to everyone around her, and especially to her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
