ARENA, Mary A. (Paltrineri) Of Natick formerly of Wellesley and Waltham, January 2, 2022. Beloved wife of the late O.J. Rus Arena. Devoted mother of Louise Arena of Warwick, RI and Robert Arena and his wife Cheryl of Franklin. Grandmother of John Hanacik of Warwick, RI, Matthew Arena and his wife Lais of Grafton, and Beth Baksi and her husband Subir of CA. Great-grandmother of Shauna Thomas-Sanchez of Pawtucket, RI and Alexander Baksi. Great great-grandmother of Ryan and Camila Sanchez. Sister of the late Red Paltrineri, Vanda R. Paltrineri, Louis Paltrineri, and Joseph Paltrineri. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Wellesley she was the daughter of the late Angelo Paltrineri and Josephine (Tassi) Paltrineri Cononi. She was a graduate of Wellesley High School class of 1941, where she excelled in math. She was a retired employee of Raytheon during World War II, Woolworth of Natick, and a member of the Natick Senior Center. She was a devoted mother who was an outstanding cook and skillful sewer. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She stayed active and continued to play trivia games well into her 90’s. She will be remembered fondly by many for her wit and talent.
A private funeral service will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 12:00pm. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
