Obituary

CORCORAN, Daniel Patrick 86, of Orleans, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on December 17, 2021 after battling Alzheimer’s disease for many years.

Dan was born and raised in Brookline, MA. where he attended St. Mary’s High School. Dan met his wife Sarah (Sally) Kelly of 61 years through friends, while attending Northeastern University. Dan enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 followed by service in the Army Reserves. Dan had a very successful and rewarding career at the Stop and Shop Companies for 39 years. Starting in the mail room, Dan retired as an executive as Vice President of Human Resources.

Upon retirement, Dan and Sally moved to Orleans, MA and Sarasota Florida where they enjoyed living near the ocean and the company of many friends. Dan had a lifelong passion for golfing and was a longtime member at Norfolk Golf Club in Westwood, Cummaquid Golf Club on Cape Cod and Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota Florida.

Known for his love of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, one could be guaranteed to find Dan watching the latest game on his comfortable chair sipping a cold adult beverage while watching one of the games with his grandkids. Known for his quick, dry, Irish humor, Dan would liven up any celebration with one or more of his favorite expressions and was known to play practical jokes on his friends.

Dan was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Mary and his sister Loretta Walsh. Dan is survived by his wife Sally, siblings Claire Domenicucci, Stephen Corcoran and Thomas Corcoran, his three children and their spouses: Daniel and Ann Corcoran, Karen and Roger Tauchman, Stephen and Nancy Corcoran and his three grandchildren: Daniel and wife Tatiana Corcoran, Thomas Corcoran and Holden Corcoran, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Monday, Dec. 20 from 4-7pm. His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
