WAYLAND: Michael S. Wood, 78, formerly of Watertown, died on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his residence in Wayland following a period of declining health.
He was born on January 20, 1943 in Cambridge son of the late Ralph Wood and Florence (Schaffer) Wood.
Michael was the loving husband for 44 years of the late Anne P. (McNulty) Wood who died on June 23, 2015. Beloved father of Stephanie A. Wood LaFond and her husband Mark LaFond of Sudbury and Elizabeth Wood Keller and her husband Ryan Keller of Concord. Cherished grandfather of Michael and Daniel LaFond and Anne and Henry Keller. Brother of Mary Kelly of Hudson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Michael has been a resident of Wayland for the past 47 years and spent his formative years in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. He received his BS in Business from the University of Arizona. He had a long and successful career as a Marketing Representative for Hingham Mutual Fire Insurance before retiring in 2011.
He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Charles River Country Club of Newton. He enjoyed horses, particularly thoroughbreds. Michael was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family.
Visitations will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (off Rt. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:30 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at Good Shepherd Parish at ST. ANN Church, 124 Cochituate Rd (Rt 27), Wayland.
Interment to follow in North Cemetery in Wayland.
