Louise Campbell Reed
10/30/2021

WESTON: Louise Campbell Reed, a longtime resident of Weston MA, Louise entered into rest on October 30, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born in Boston on December 20, 1934 to the late Allen and Arline Reed. During her youth, Louise was a talented athlete and active member of her Girl Scouts troop. She graduated from Weston High School in 1953 and from Hood College in 1957, launching her 35-year career as a gifted elementary school teacher in Colorado Springs, Weston, and Wayland. Louise earned her master’s degree from Boston University in 1975.
Louise’s pride and joy were her sons, Scott and Marshall, in whom she instilled her love of learning and her dedication to family. Whether driving cross-country with them or spending summers in Rockport MA with extended family, Louise exuded fun, laughter, and adventure. When her sons married and had their own children, Louise loved spending time with her four grandchildren, playing games, babysitting, and decorating gingerbread houses.
Through much of her adulthood, Louise enjoyed tennis, swimming, and playing bridge with her dear friends, and being part of the community at the Weston United Methodist Church. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, singing in the Golden Tones choral group, and volunteering at the Weston Council on Aging, where she knitted blankets for children at hospitals through Project Linus. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics.
Louise is survived by her son Scott Tarbox and his wife, Karin Leinwand; Marshall Reed and his wife, Tracy; and four grandchildren, Jessie, Andrew, Alecia, and Connor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen Reed, and several nieces and nephews. She was the beloved sister of the late Allen Reed, Jr. and the late Susan Moore, and sister-in-law of the late Wendell Moore and the late Catherine Reed.
