WAYLAND: On October 30, 2021, Lorraine Grace “Laurie” Cohen, age 80, our beloved mother, grandmother, family member and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Wayland.
Those who knew her lost a beautiful, loving and caring bright light in their lives. A woman who devoted her life to loving her family and helping others. She worked for many years as an addiction specialist in the Boston and Framingham area and had the natural ability to understand people.
Born in Boston in 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Burke. She is survived by her devoted sons Jay, Jeff, Garrett, grandchildren Jack, Miranda, great granddaughter Ava, son-in-law Tom and daughters- in-law Mary and Jenny. Also survived by many other family members. Laurie was predeceased by her husband Jack, son Christopher, and grandsons Eric and Michael.
Laurie was a fun-loving individual who enjoyed being around family and friends. As an animal lover she adored her dogs, especially her wolf-hybrid Yaqui and Yorkie Roxi. Always making time for everyone, Laurie worked tirelessly to provide for her children whom she was so proud of and dedicated her life.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday November 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Laurie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Parish at Saint Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St (Rt, 27), Wayland on Thursday November 4 at 10:30 a.m.
Laurie’s wishes were to be cremated and her ashes will be placed in areas that brought her peace and happiness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any organizations that help people suffering from addiction, mental health or those helping animals.
