WESTON: Wayne Joseph Osmond, 73, died unexpectedly October 27, 2021.
He was born in Waltham, MA on January 12, 1948 and was the son of the late Hector Joseph Osmond and May “Irene” (McCollem) Osmond.
Wayne was the beloved father of Kristine H. Osmond and longtime partner of Kathleen “Kathy” Morrison Gorbach of Weston. He is also survived by his brother Gary S. Osmond and his wife Karin L. (Johnson) Osmond of Weston, nieces Jessica L. Osmond of San Leandro, CA and Katelyn D. Osmond of Austin, TX, son-in-law Ari Craysman, cousins and his Aunt, Grace Osmond of Wayland.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Weston and graduated from Weston High School in 1966. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in 1970 and Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University. For several years he was a teacher at Worcester High School, and later the Waltham School System, teaching in the field of Health Education. Wayne ran Osmond Landscaping Company Inc of Weston for over 40 years and was well known in the area as an accomplished landscaper.
He was a fixed wing pilot for a number of years. He eventually became a helicopter pilot and owner of Boston Helicopter of Norwood, MA. Most recently he owned Osmond Aviation based in Lawrence, MA.
Wayne enjoyed traveling all over the world and one of his last and most memorable trips was to New Zealand and Australia.
At Weston High School, Wayne was a three-sport athlete and was the quarterback for the football team his senior year. While at Dartmouth, Wayne played on the hockey team and continued to play hockey late into his sixties.
He will be remembered for his dry wit and humor, always assisting others and being there when needed. Wayne touched many lives during his lifetime, including those of our four-legged friends. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland. Masks must be worn at the funeral home.
At the request of his family, interment in Linwood Cemetery, with his parents, will be private.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
