WAYLAND: J Frederic Sway, 82, died peacefully and in the comfort and care of his beloved
family at his residence in Wayland on Thursday, October 14, 2021 following a period of declining health. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 9, 1939 the son of the late Isaac Sway and Jane (Ciener) Sway. Fred was the beloved husband for 41 years of Pamela (Lewis) Sway of Wayland. Devoted father of Brian F. Sway and his wife April Mazza of Natick, Henry L. “Hank” Sway and his wife Ashley Sway of Columbus, OH and Isaac L. “Ike” Sway and his wife Anna Agranov of Concord. Cherished grandfather of Isabelle Sway and Charlotte Sway. Brother of Daniel Sway and his wife Sue Sway of Cincinnati, OH. Fred has been a resident of Wayland for over 39 years and previously resided in Cambridge. He spent his formative years in Cincinnati, OH and received his BS in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. He received his Masters in Photography from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Prior to his retirement, he was the Director of Photo Services at Boston University for 20 years. He was an accomplished photographer and was a teacher of commercial and artistic photography. In his leisure time, Fred enjoyed reading, cycling, and yoga. He served his country proudly with the United States Army and with the US Army Reserves. Fred always placed his family first and delighted in spending time with them creating many fond memories over the years. At the request of his family, all funeral services will be private.
