CHICOPEE – Henry F. “Hank” Pickul, 83, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 10, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on January 3, 1938, a beloved son of the late Henry and Rose (Fioretti) Pickul. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Technical High School and had moved to Willimansett in 1971 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as a machine operator with the Boston & Maine Railroad. He was a member of the Tigers Athletic Club in Chicopee where he enjoyed golfing in their golf league. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Catherine G. (Garvey) Pickul. They were married on November 5, 1966 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Carl M. Pickul and his wife, Kristen, of Hudson, FL, Angela M. Pickul and her fiance, Angelo Denehy, and Mick Burns of Sandisfield; his three cherished grandchildren, Joseph McClain and his wife, Maghan, and Jacqueline and Jeremy Pickul; his two cherished great grandsons, Joseph Daniel McClain, Jr. and Kaleb Henry Bruso; his two dear brothers, Philip Pickul of Springfield and Joseph Pickul of Montague; his dear brother in law, Michael Garvey and his wife, Patricia, of Chicopee; his dear sister in law, Margaret “Peggy” Garvey of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother in law, John P. “Jack” Garvey who was Called Home on April 21, 2020; and his dear sister in law, Mary Ellen Garvey who was Called Home on June 30, 2021. His funeral services will be private. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
