Joan K. Caledonia, 90, of Brockton, died on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Domenic A. Caledonia for 47 years.
Born and raised in Brockton, Joan was the daughter of the late Francis and Kathleen (Burgoyne) Blunt. She attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Brockton High School with the class of 1949.
She had been employed by Kennedy’s Clothing Store, New England Tel and Tel and Dunnington’s Pharmacy. She retired from CVS after many years there as a manager and certified pharmacy technician.
Joan was a long-time follower of the Red Sox and enjoyed traveling, casino trips, crossword puzzles, reading and time spent with family. She was famously known for recognizing every family member’s birthday with carefully picked cards that were mailed at just the right time to arrive the day before or on their birthday, leaving everyone to wonder how she managed it.
She was predeceased by her husband Domenic A. and her daughter Joan E. Caledonia, her sister Mary Smith and husband James Smith and her brother John Blunt.
She is survived by five children: Geryl McAndrews and husband John “Jack” of North Easton, John “Jay” Caledonia and wife Maureen of Brockton, Lynn Stulpin of Hanson, David Caledonia of Brockton, Diane Cherkaoui and husband Zouheir of Florida; her eight grandchildren and her four great-grandchildren. She also leaves her two sisters who were her best friends, Ann “Nancy” Roy and her husband Donald and Kathleen (Valin) Atkinson and her husband Tom of Florida; sister-in-law Cynthia Blunt of Brockton as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
